A Washington man broke into a King’s County Sheriff’s substation, shattering a window and bringing a “peace offering” of doughnuts.

The man reportedly came in to the unoccupied building, propped his feet up on a chair, smoked a cigar and watched TV until authorities arrived.

When the deputy asked him if he had smashed the window, the man confirmed his crime, and said going to jail for breaking a window was better than going to jail for killing his roommate.

The King County Sheriff’s Office reported that the man brought fresh doughnuts as a peace offering.

“As he wished, the suspect was booked into the King County Jail,” the agency wrote on social media. “No word on the fate of the donuts.”
