The charge is in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Skylar Shane Townsend, Green Cove Springs police announced on the department’s Facebook page Sunday.

Both Austin and Smith were being held on $500,000 bail at the Clay County Jail, inmate records show. They were arrested Saturday, according to the records.

Police said the investigation is ongoing but didn’t release any details about the arrests.

Green Cove Springs police previously said officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Center Street about 6 p.m. last Tuesday regarding a shooting. They quickly discovered two men with gunshot wounds on the road. Townsend died at the hospital, while the second man underwent surgery and was released.

While at the hospital, detectives learned of a third male who arrived with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound also linked to the case, police have said.
