Phoenix man pulls replica gun on another man during argument before being fatally shot

A Phoenix man learned the hard way about bringing a fake gun to a real gunfight- a lesson that ended up being his last.

The incident took place on Sunday outside of a QuikTrip gas station, when Sergio Cruz pulled a fake gun on a man he was arguing with.

The 31-year-old’s decision proved deadly after the other man pulled a real firearm and fatally shot Cruz.

According to Fox10, Phoenix Police Sgt. Philip Krynsky says Cruz confronted the suspect about a fight with a loved one. That’s when the replica and real guns were pulled out.

“Investigators responded to the scene to gather evidence, talk with witnesses and look for possible surveillance. The investigation remains active. No arrests have been made at this time,” Krynsky said.

An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
