A married high school teacher in Florida found herself on the wrong side of the law after carrying out a sexual relationship with a minor student and threatening to fail him if he spoke up about it.
In yet another case of female teachers crossing the line with male students, Meghan Mary Rodriguez reportedly initiated a “platonic” conversation with her student via text, only for the messages to turn more romantic over time.
The Santa Rosa County educator -who taught at Navarre High School- had unprotected sex with the student on school grounds after he had finished football practice.
Rodriguez claimed that she was unable to conceive, according to the young man. The incident took place last summer.
In March of this year, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office was informed of the matter and sent an investigator to speak to Rodriguez. She admitted that she kissed the young man, but that nothing else happened.
Rodriguez’s husband also spoke with investigators the following day, telling them that he had seen inappropriate messages on her phone.
Through the investigative process, it was discovered that Rodriguez was becoming obsessed with the boy, even creating a scene during a school trip to Orlando. At one point, she reportedly threatened to fail him if he didn’t carry on the relationship.
According to the Daily Mail, Rodriguez quit her position in May, and was booked for the second-degree felony charge of sexual assault on a minor on June 11. She was arraigned last week.
