A Florida woman was arrested after she attempted to break into a house and steal a baby, authorities report.

28-year-old Hannah Braun reportedly gained entry to the St. Petersburg home on early Tuesday morning around 2 AM, after a young child in the residence let her in.

Spotting the infant as she entered the house, she attempted to take the baby but was stopped by an adult in the home.

According to Fox 13 News, Ring doorbell footage caught the incident for police to review later.

Local resident Elroy Reynolds encountered the woman before she went next door and attempted a kidnapping.

“She was on something. She was yelling,” Reynoldsrecalled. “The lady is pushing the door open. She comes in the house. Almost pushed my grandmother over and that’s when I jump up. I said, ‘What are you doing?’ She said, ‘I want the children. I’m here for the babies’. I said, ‘Where are your kids at? What’s going on?’ She said, ‘No, the babies.’ Then she pointed to my little cousin and said ‘Let me touch her face.’”

Police eventually located Braun, who lives in the same neighborhood. During her escapade, she had left two children under the age of six inside of her own home, completely unattended.

Braun is currently being held in the Pinellas County Jail on multiple charges, including attempted kidnapping and child abuse.
