DANBURY — Police found three children and a woman dead at a home on Whaley Street on Wednesday evening.

Officers were called to the home at 6:30 p.m. for a wellbeing check. The caller, a man, was distraught and crying, Chief Patrick Ridenhour said Wednesday night.

In the home, officers found three children dead. The children were between 5 and 12 years old, according to Ridenhour. Officers investigated the property further and discovered a woman dead in a shed in the backyard.

Ridenhour said the police department will not be releasing the names of the deceased at this time.

No arrests have been made as of 10:15 p.m., Ridenhour said.

He added that the incident appears to be isolated and there is no danger to the public.

The police department’s General Investigations Division and Special Victims Unit are investigating.

A police cruiser blocked Whaley Street at the corner of Highland Avenue on Wednesday night.

Ridenhour said updates will be provided Thursday morning.
