Breaking: Two NYPD officers shot responding to domestic violence call in Queens

Two NYPD cops were shot and wounded in Queens during an exchange of gunfire with a suspect, officials said.

Gunfire erupted on 179th St. and 145th Drive in Springfield Gardens about 12:45 p.m. as the two officers were responding to a domestic violence call.

One of the officers was shot in the leg and was bleeding heavily, according to preliminary reports. A second officer was hit in the hand.

The man they exchanged shots with was also hit and died at the scene.

The two officers were taken to Jamaica Hospital, officials said.
