Akron police were negotiating Sunday with a “possibly armed and agitated” man at a Brittain Road high rise apartment building.

Police received a call at 9:20 a.m. Sunday from at least two people in the parking lot of the building who said a man on a balcony was threatening them while holding a firearm.

When authorities arrived on the scene, Akron police spokesman Lt. Michael Miller said, the man entered his apartment and refused to come out.

A SWAT team and police negotiators were still trying to reach a resolution as of 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

Miller said police consider the man “possibly armed and agitated.”

The call log did not indicate the reltaionship between the callers and the allegedly armed man, police said.
